Prepare for a noisy spring and summer if you live in Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, West Virginia, Virginia or Washington DC. The Brood X Magicicada will be emerging from their 17 years of hibernation to fill the skies and airwaves with their distinctive buzzing and colorful wings. These harmless insects conduct this mating ritual rarely. The last time they were seen in mass was in 2004.
